Introducing Bayleys Wanganui
Updated: Jan 21
Bayleys Real Estate started in 1973 when Pam, Graham and John Bayley began working from their family home in Pakuranga. Graham and his son John worked as full-time salespeople, while Pam supported them as financial controller, receptionist and office manager.
The company is still run by the Bayleys family. And the rest is history, today they have over 90 offices throughout New Zealand and 3 in Fiji. They have over 2,000 staff, including over 1,000 sales and leasing agents and are one of the largest full-service real estate companies in New Zealand.
Here in Whanganui, the local Bayleys Wanganui franchise has a team of around 20 people and is owned and operated by John Bartley along with Knud (Kanute) & Karen Bukholt having taken over the franchise in late 2018.
The business has a strong focus on the rural sector and is the biggest local player in the commercial sector. In January 2019 they moved into their current offices on the corner of Guyton & Wicksteed Streets. John was formerly involved with his family’s business, Bartley Group, and was the General Manager. He also owned the local Stihl Shop. Knud Bukholt has vast experience in the rural sector and has now been a successful real estate salesperson for more than a dozen years and is supported by his wife Karen who is also a licensed real estate agent.
The company has been supportive of many local activities such as The New Zealand Masters Games as an official Host Partner and helped raise funds for a teenage snowboarder, Tui Wikohika, in his attempt to compete in the Winter Olympics.
